![]() Throughout the episode the team is in awe of Zava’s talent, however, Jamie sees through it all, and he knows that their new star is a bit of a conceited player. Then, in episode 3, we are officially introduced to Zava, a footballer who is somehow even more self-confident than Jamie. While it’s a funny moment overall, it also shows Jamie’s major growth. The Richmond coach is obviously not into the hug, however, the gesture is noted, despite Jamie calling Roy a “dusty old fart,” and kinda sorta appreciated. However, he doesn’t he chases Roy instead and tries to hug him. Considering Jamie had confessed his love for Keeley in Season 2, you’d think he’d follow her and try to get her back. ![]() In episode two, the team learns the devastating news that Keeley and Roy have broken up. The actor continued to talk about Jamie’s evolution saying: However, throughout Seasons 1 and 2, there has been slow character development going on, and now with Season 3 of Ted Lasso, it’s like our favorite pretty boy we love to hate is now a relatively nice boy. Phil Dunster, who plays Jamie, described his character as a “hotshot striker,” who is quite “arrogant” when we first meet him on BBC The One Show. Phil Dunster Explains Jamie Tartt's Evolution However, in true Ted Lasso fashion, Phil Dunster’s character got a chance to redeem himself when he returned to Richmond, and now we can watch Ted Lasso Season 3 unfold, I find myself actually liking Jamie Tartt…which is a sentence I never thought I’d ever write. He was the ultimate f-boy, and incredibly unlikeable. That was 100% the case in Season 1 of Ted Lasso when we met Jamie Tartt for the first time. This is because when someone walks into a room wearing a hat that says “ICON,” and acts as if they are the absolute best, immediately I'm seeing tons of red flags. That element of surprise allowed him and Goldstein to “live in the moment,” and really respond to the story as it unfolded.Other than Nate entering his villain era, Jamie Tartt becoming a likable character has been one of the biggest surprises to come from Ted Lasso. He explained that he knew, the show’s creators, Sudeikis, Kelly and Brendan Hunt always had an end goal in mind, but he also said there was room for “jazz-ing” in between. While it feels like this friendship was meant to be, Dunster admitted that he didn't know if Jamie and Roy becoming BFFs was always in the cards. Shooting that, I think, if I may be so bold as to say that people really enjoyed it, I feel like I probably enjoyed filming it just as much as people did watch it. We have a lot of back and forth on and off screen and I think that really, really helps. He said:īut also I feel incredibly present with him. Dunster spoke about how he wanted to work more with the Emmy winner following Season 1 in that interview, and while chatting with us the Jamie Tartt actor used that bike scene as an example to illustrate how much fun they have together. The two Ted Lasso cast members have a clear love for each other, as the actors made clear in a conversation they had with Apple TV+. ![]() And so it's really helpful to sort of speak to him as well as speaking to Jason and Joe who were there to bolster that.ĭunster continued to gush about how much he adores Goldstein, and explained how he helps him within the scenes. He's been with it since right near its inception. He's a writer on it, he is a story exec on it. It was so helpful that he knows this show intimately. Not just because I love him, like a deep deep love, romantically love him. And being able to do that with Brett was so good. I was really excited to film Jamie having this sort of step forward, or at least us having more of a view into his life and his mental process.
